Aurispa Libellula has established the breaking ranks at the end of a season that saw the Salento team come close to the quarter-finals of the Serie A3 playoffs after a long and exciting comeback in the standings. The two presidents, Massimo Venneri and Francesco Cassiano, took care of taking stock and hinting at the future on Mondoradio’s microphones.

Venneri thus comments on the defeat in the golden set against Tuscania, preceded by the Salento’s success in match 2: “It was a touching end of the game, in the end the boys sang along with our fans but they cried for the defeat and for not having had the chance to continue their journey in the playoffs. It was a bitter defeat but we still had an excellent championship.” Cassiano adds: “As happens in so many games that end in a tiebreak, after winning 3-1, we lost the golden set by a ball. But there’s nothing to reproach the team with, everyone gave their soul and played divinely, then you have to keep in mind that the opponent is always on the other side.”

The fans, Leones above all, make themselves heard not only in the stands, but also through messages of support for the team and compliments to the club. Cassiano comments: “They are something incredible, which every club would like to have in their arena, because they manage to involve everyone in encouraging the team. Venneri reiterates: “The Leones are splendid, even the ex on duty who return to the arena are welcomed in celebration, and this shows how unique they are”.

On the future of the team, Venneri explains: “We have given our availability to all the athletes to stay with us. Someone will stay and someone else will leave, but it’s too early to tell.” Cassiano confirms: “The company has given wide availability to those who show a willingness to stay, they would be welcomed with open arms. The will, however, must also respond to other dynamics that are created over time, but the boys made it clear that they felt at home.
