The first words as an athlete of the Gioiella Prisma Taranto of the newcomer Filippo Lanza.

What led him to reach Taranto and the ambitions, thoughts and dreams he brings in for the new Superlega season on the shores of the Ionian.

What prompted you to accept this engagement in Puglia?

Three weeks ago the general manager Vito Primavera telephoned me, explaining the company’s desire to confirm the two years of successes that were achieved in Taranto with the never easy salvation in the Superlega and the will to cling to this championship with a definitely new project with also the change of a coach and many grafts that could create a more competitive team. Honestly, I was very attracted by the willingness that the company had towards me and by the desire to get involved in this project. Speaking a little over the past few weeks, I have understood that there is a lot of seriousness on the part of the club, which has already had an excellent historical past with great players and championship tops that were already tempting, and personally after the two years played at the abroad I had the desire to go back and rejoin a team with different objectives but still valid in the Italian championship. For me it’s always nice to come back and replay the Italian League that gave me and to which I have given so much and I would like to continue, I feel at the right age to be able to take on greater responsibilities and try to achieve great results again. Gioiella Prisma Taranto is making a real effort to bring great volleyball back to Taranto and this only makes things even more stimulating.

What are the emotions in returning to Italy?

I’m excited because I’ve been away for several years, so seeing old friends from the national team again and dealing with what youth volleyball is now will certainly be stimulating in many ways. What encourages me the most in this choice is seeing and confronting myself again with this League, trying to understand how much more I can give to Italian volleyball, to the Taranto team, because I would really like it to be able to play a great year with a lot of motivation and in short, rekindle that fire, continue to keep alive the enthusiasm of the city of Taranto. According to some athletes I spoke to, the energy that the fans transmit during matches is tangible, great successes are always celebrated a lot, so I’m curious to know the environment.
