The new year brought a new figure within the Volleyball San Giustino, with a view to strengthening the corporate structure. Valdemaro Gustinelli has arrived from the nearby Città di Castello, who has a past as a player in the top flight and in B1, before embarking on the path of manager and team manager in the Tifernate area. Gustinelli, 53, has held the position of head of the technical and sports area of the men’s youth sector since 1 January; as coordinator of external technical collaborations and technical consultant of the senior training, militant in the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship. An entry into the blue-and-white association which is part of the collaboration relationship with the Città di Castello Volleyball. “I am extremely happy with the task assigned to me by Volleyball San Giustino – said Gustinelli himself – and I thank the managing director Claudio Bigi, with whom I am in full harmony with regards to the opinions and objectives of the project. At the same time, I also feel the duty to thank Enrico Ligi and Andrea Malatesta, the two people with whom I have developed ideas and projects to develop over the last four months. I also thank both Goran Maric for the professionalism shown in wanting me as a consultant for the first team, and the board of directors who welcomed me into the managerial cadres of Volleyball San Giustino. And thanks also go to Città di Castello Volleyball in the persons of Graziano Caselli, Maurizio Mandrelli and Marco Magrini, who will allow me to “ferry” over the past six months the commitment of technical manager of the Serie C, Under 19 and Under 17. I feel very motivated and I am convinced that one of the ways to take to return to being competitive in the volleyball elite is to be able to include as many athletes as possible from the youth sector on the roster of the first team; athletes from all over the Upper Tiber Valley area and beyond. This means – an important fact – that a Serie A club decides to invest in young people, in the awareness of having the potential to return to being a point of reference for Umbrian volleyball and the credentials to be able to excel in all categories of the men’s youth sector . There are several projects under consideration: we just need to work well, as we are already doing and to set up the start of next season to be immediately competitive and successful”.
