This time the tie break does not suit Smartsystem Fano which, in Sabaudia, suffers its fifth defeat of the season. Nothing alarming, of course, even if the Virtussian team continues to struggle outside the friendly walls.
Against Sabaudia, who was going through a good moment, the Fano players ran into the usual ups and downs that influenced the result: “We started the match well – states Simone Roscini, assistant coach to Vincenzo Mastrangelo – channeling it on our tracks, then the usual blackouts that happen when we play away from home, we concede a series of points and are unable to recover. We knew that Sabaudia, after the successes against Bari and Palmi, was in a good moment but we were unable to give continuity to our performance”. A Fano who suffered particularly in reception: “We knew that they had good hitters – continues Roscini – the problem is that we were unable to find countermeasures in attack”.
Part of the match for central defender Pietro Galdenzi who, having entered the second half of the match for Focosi, tried to give his team a jolt: “We made mistakes that we cannot afford so Sabaudia gained confidence – states the central defender from Senigallia – our group has values that we must put into play, the season is still long and anything can happen.” Furthermore, Fano is in the running for the double objective of the Italian Cup and the Championship and Galdenzi is aware of this: “Absolutely yes – concludes Pietro – we are still among the top in the standings and we have qualified for the final four of the Cup. Therefore our goals are still achievable.”
