Santa Croce’s season couldn’t have started more spectacularly and thrillingly. In an incredible encounter, Genova flew away with a 2-0 lead thanks to brilliant performances from Benito Ruiz and Bulgarian Yordanov. The hosts regained control when people thought there was no way back anymore. The 15-13 in the tie-break came thanks to a fantastic block on Benito Ruiz.
“We were not ourselves in the first two sets – said coach Cannestracci – The serve was not working and that prevented us from playing. Once we improved on that, things gradually went into place. Today we came back in a game and beat a very strong opponent in Genova, team full of experienced players”.
