Special European Cups

Strike from the Italians

2013 Champions League

A run of Italian victories began with Cuneo coming back from Romania and Zalau with a smile. Piazza’s boys will try to make it two when they host the French of Sete, who also won in the first round.

Easy ride in Belgium for Macerata against Asse-Lennik. The Italians even rested Podrascanin and Parodi, and gave time to the yougsters Randazzo and Tartaglione. The first home encounter will be against the Slovenians of Ljubljana.

No trouble either for Trentino who was welcomed in their arena as four-time winners of the World Club Championships. The fan’s joy continued with a win over Serbian side of Red Star Belgrade. Djuric and Bari were left home, substituted by Burgsthaler and Colaci, who both did well. Trento will travel this week to France to play against Tours on Thursday.

2013 CEV Cup

Latina began its first European challenge in style with a convincing win over CSKA Sofia away from home in just over an hour of play despite the superb atmosphere created by the Bulgarian fans. If Prandi’s team wins the return leg, they will go through automatically, otherwise a Golden set to 15 will be played.
