Serie A1

Round 4

ANDREOLI LATINA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) – ANDREOLI LATINA: Rauwerdink 18, Rossini (L), Gitto 3, Sottile 4, Jarosz 11, Verhees 7, Noda Blanco, Fragkos 4. DNP Patriarca, Prandi, Troy, Cisolla, Guemart. Coach. Prandi.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 4, Antonov 4, Ngapeth 7, De Pandis (L), Wijsmans 5, Kohut 3, Grbic, Della Lunga, Sokolov 16, Abdelaziz. DNP Marchisio, Galliani, Rossi. Coach. Piazza.

Latina overcame Cuneo in three sets and moved up to second in the league. The game was only tight at the beginning of sets as Latina took full advantage of the many Cuneo mistakes (24).

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “I have seen the gym packed for the first time, that is really great. We had a positive game which became easier thanks to their many mistakes. At the beginning of season, you have to limit your mistakes, and we did a better job at that than them”.

Oleg Antonov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “They had nothing to lose and played freely. Credit to them. We were tense all game long, we were afraid of their aggressiveness even if with the players we have we should not be influenced by these kind of things”.

CASA MODENA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 3-1 (25-27, 25-19, 25-13, 29-27) – CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 9, Deroo 21, Celitans 19, Kooy 8, Casadei 1, Vesely 8, Molteni 6, Pinelli, Baranowicz 2, Piscopo 3. DNP Catellani, Quesque. Coach. Lorenzetti.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Menzel 10, Ricciardello, Paparoni (L), Falaschi 4, Dolfo (L), Ferreira, Sabbi 17, Ferreira 1, Yosifov 7, Cester 3, Casoli 11, Krumins. DNP Elia. Coach. Gulinelli.

Modena had the better of Castellana Grotte. It’s its second three-point victory in three games played. At times, the hosts dominated, at times they survived, while the game had a thrilling end to it. But the 3000 plus fans witnessed some top quality volleyball and discovered Sam Deroo (1992) who made his debut today and took the MVP award.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Casa Modena): “I’m very happy, let’s enjoy this victory because taking three points is always something big for us. I liked the attitude of the players, focused and at times enjoying themselves just the way I like it to be. It’s true that we had some negative spells and there are a lot of things to work on, but we’ll think about that from tomorrow… I decided to send Deroo on because in recent weeks, his numbers were better than his teammates playing the same position. This is a team with 13 players, who all can and have to be important”.

Flavio Gulinelli (coach BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We got off to a good start, playing good volleyball. Then we lost our way and struggled to get back in it. Shame because the end of the fourth set was a bit of a lottery and we could have got to the fifth. We’re alternating moments of excellent volleyball and others in which we’re less brilliant. We have a new team with young players too, we have to take one step at a time”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 2-3 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 11-15)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Corvetta, Papi 9, Fei 18, Ogurcak, Zlatanov 16, Holt 19, Tencati 10, Maruotti. DNP Latelli, Tavana, Vettori. Coach. Monti.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 1, Cortellazzi, Kaliberda 13, Farina (L), Forni, Rocamora 1, Buti 11, Klapwijk 23, Barone 10, Urnaut 12. DNP Montesanti, Lavia, Presta. Coach. Blengini.

Without De Cecco (little abdominal injury), Piacenza surrendered at the tie-break against a Vibo Valentia team that, despite the many mistakes, found the resources to come out of the negative runs to put Piacenza under pressure at the end of the fourth and fifth set. Unlike its opponent, Piacenza lost confidence in the difficult moments by playing some poor dig. Klapwijk and Kaliberda the main protagonists in Vibo’s turnaround.

Luca Tencati (Copra Elior Piacenza): “Shame this ended negatively. We lost our way and faded badly in attack, which was decisive”.

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “It’s great to win in Piacenza, not so much because I used to play there, but because this was a tough game. At one point, we did not seem to believe enough and we knew we were not playing our best volleyball. I felt we would not make it, but instead we found the resources to do things correctly. Then, things just got into place”.

ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (19-25, 12-25, 23-25)

ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO: Fiore 7, Van Den Dries 8, Cesarini (L), Bohme 4, Mattioli, Torre 2, De Togni 7, Cebulj 7. DNP Guttmann, Mc Kibbin, Gradi, Lo Bianco. Coach. Fenoglio.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 13, Birarelli 7, Juantorena 13, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Uchikov 1, Lanza, Colaci (L), Stokr 12, Chrtiansky Jr, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 6. DNP Sintini, Valsecchi. Coach. Stoytchev.

Very little could san Giustino do against Trentino, which looked once again from a different planet. Kaziyski and Juantorena had 13 apiece.

Andrea Cesarini (Altotevere San Giustino): “We did everything we could but Trentino was just too strong. They played at an extremely high level, they put us under pressure with their serve. We were hoping we could snatch a set, but we didn’t make it. We had a tough beginning of season, but from next Sunday this will be a new start for us”.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Itas Diatec Trentino): “I had seen San Giustino’s previous games, I expected a hard-fought game. We did a great job of escaping in the second set and we made the most of our qualities. We played humble and that’s what pleases me the most”.

CMC RAVENNA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (13-25, 21-25, 15-25)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi, Zhukouski 3, Psarras, Sirri 2, Tabanelli (L), Mazzotti, Zanuto 10, Moro 8, Bellei, Pelekoudas 4, Creus Larry 3. DNP Radunovic. Coach. Fresa.

In a near sold-out arena, the Italian champions of Macerata swept the hosts of new coach Fresa but the performance of the host was much better than in its previous outings.

Mauro Fresa (coach CMC Ravenna): “I am happy with the attitude of the team because I had asked a lot of them in the two trainings sessions at the end of the week. There are obviously a lot of things to work on and things we’ll have to do on court when we’ll face teams of our level”.

Marko Podrascanin (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I am extremely satisfied with my performance and even more with the one of the team. The guys proved to be in great shape once again despite the many games we’re having”.
