COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 15-25, 25-13)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Le Roux 1, Partenio, Papi 9, Fei 11, Kaliberda 3, Simon 13, Zlatanov 12, Husaj 1, Tencati, Vettori 17, De Cecco. Dnp Smerilli. Coach. Monti.

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Sardanelli (L), Trinidad De Haro, Plot (L), Steuerwald 1, Randazzo 11, Forni 2, Villena 1, Crer 8, Gavotto 15, Ogurcak 13, Presta. Dnp Thiaw. Coach. Blengini.

Piacenza is back at its best. Beaten by Città di Castello in the first round, Gavotto and co were back in action just three days after their Champions League debut. Their game is still inconsistent, as seen in the third set, but they showed a little progress and more maturity. MVP: Fei

Luca Monti (Coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “We’re finding it hard right now. In the third set, I tried to substitute all the starters to give them a breather and find their focus before the fourth set. We have to keep working, it’s only with games that we’ll find the consistency we’re lacking now. We need time and games. I hope we’ll be more consistent as soon as possible”.

Luigi Randazzo (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “What we probably lacked the most to push Piacenza to the tie-break was the fighting spirit. We did not play our best volley. We played at a good level until the third set, but then we let it slip away at the end of the fourth. Given the score, we could have avoided that”.

CALZEDONIA VERONA – BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-1 (25-21, 30-28, 23-25, 25-20) CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 15, Blasi, Pesaresi (L), Ter Horst 17, Gasparini 13, White 14, Boninfante, Bellei 2, Anzani 10, Gonzalez. DNP Coali, Gabriele, Centomo. Coach. Giani.

BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO: Rauwerdink 10, Antonov 15, Gonzalez, De Pandis (L), Casadei 1, Kohut 3, Alletti 4, De Togni 8, Freriks 2, Rouzier 12, Maruotti 4. DNP Marchisio. Coach. Piazza.

Verona is back on the winning track. It defeated Cuneo 3-1 in its first home game of the season in front of 3.200 spectators. The main factor was the blocking: Aidan Zingel registered a staggering 15 blocks and was named MVP, while Ter Horst was the top scorer with 17 points.

Aidan Zingel (Calzedonia Verona): “This has been a fantastic game, we played well and found each other on court. It’s been thrilling, I gave everything I had. We could not have wished for a better home debut”.

Gabriele Maruotti(Bre Lannutti Cuneo): “Verona was a level above tonight, they played better and deserved the win. We’ll work to bounce back in the next game. The next encounter will be very important for us, we’ll have to put maximum determination in it”.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20)

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Piscopo 9, Mazzone 7, Izzo, Cesarini (L), De Marchi, Sabbi 14, Zanuto 8, Blagojevic, Casoli 9, Saitta 3. DNP Del Vecchio, Porcelli, Fornés Jul. Coach. Cichello.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO: Franceschini, Fromm 11, Carminati, Corvetta 1, Dolfo 12, Massari 1, Tosi (L), Piano 8, Van Walle 8, Rossi 3, Marchiani. DNP Lensi, Sartoretti. Coach. Radici.

Successfull first home game for Molfetta, which got rid of Città di Castello in straight sets. It lasted just over an hour and a half, all pretty much one-way traffic. Too many mistakes from the guests. The outstanding Zanuto grabbed the MVP award, Sabbi shined too, and Casoli was perfect in reception and attack.

Juan Manuel Cichello(Coach Exprivia Molfetta): “We were extremely focused going into this game, I am satisfied with the team performance. That was definitely a step forward compared to the Macerata game”.

Arveno Joan (President Altotevere Città di Castello): “I am disappointed with the performance of my team. We were not concentrated and we did not play like a Città di Castello team. We played poorly compared to the game against Piacenza, we’ll try to make up for that on Sunday against Verona”.

CMC RAVENNA – DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (19-25, 23-25, 19-25)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 3, Kauliakamoa Jr 3, Tillie 9, Jeliazkov 1, Koumentakis, Patriarca, Klapwijk 8, Cester 7, Bari (L), Cebulj 12. DNP Cricca, Toniutti. Coach. Bonitta.

DIATEC TRENTINO: Sintini 2, Birarelli 7, Solé 7, Ferreira 14, Lanza 10, Sokolov 18, Colaci (L), Burgsthaler, Giannelli. DNP Thei, De Paola, Szabo, Fedrizzi. Coach. Serniotti.

No surprises, Trentino wins it with the maximum margin over a Ravenna team that still put on court some interesting spells of play. Both setters Toniutti and Suxho were out, substituted by Sintini and Kauliakamoa. MVP: Sokolov.

Marco Bonitta (Coach CMC Ravenna): “We struggled in reception and with high ball spikes, but we could not think we’d immediately find it easy without Toniutti. We’ll have to improve on various aspects”.

Roberto Serniotti (Coach Diatec Trentino): “I am satisfied because we played a good game despite the tired legs due to the cup game. Compared to the encounter against Ravenna, we played better together, we’re improving thanks to the many games already played in the early goings”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (26-28, 20-25, 30-32)

ANDREOLI LATINA: Candellaro, Rossini (L), Gitto 8, Sottile 1, Michalovic 13, Skrimov 8, Verhees 7, Paris, Noda Blanco 5, Fragkos 13. DNP De Rocco, Tailli, Torres. Coach. Santilli.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Henno (L), Parodi, Paparoni (L), Zaytsev 15, Stankovic 15, Kovar 12, Monopoli, Giombini, Kurek 11, Baranowicz 3, Podrascanin 11. DNP Lampariello, Patriarca. Coach. Giuliani.

Macerata came away from a very heated Latina gym with all three points, that were definitely not gifted by the home side. Two sets went over the 25 points as it turned into a battle even if Macerata sealed it in three sets.

MVP Dragan Stankovic

Daniele Sottile (Andreoli Latina): “We needed to convert a couple more of counter attacks to turn things around. Maybe we should have dared more, I could have done so myself and the other spikers too. But let’s not forget we had Macerata on the other side. We’re a young team and we want to show what we can do, without fear, this has to be our strength”.

Jiri Kovar (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We knew for well we were going to face a team that never gives up anything. This was very tight, we might have had too many blackouts, which can happen. But we have to be happy with these three points”.

Played yesterday, Saturday October 26
