Round 7

Serie A1 round 7

Diatec Trentino-Altotevere Città di Castello 3-2 (25-20, 15-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-11); Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata-Casa Modena 3-2 (25-27, 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12); Andreoli Latina-Copra Elior Piacenza 1-3 (35-37, 25-22, 16-25, 16-25); Bre Lannutti Cuneo-CMC Ravenna 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20); Exprivia Molfetta-Calzedonia Verona 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20); Sir Safety Perugia-Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 29-27)

DIATEC TRENTINO – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO 3-2 (25-20, 15-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-11) – DIATEC TRENTINO: Sintini 2, Birarelli 10, Solé 4, Ferreira 15, Suxho 2, Lanza 23, Sokolov 17, Szabo, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi 2, Burgsthaler. DNP Thei, De Paola. Coach. Serniotti.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO: Franceschini 1, Fromm 19, Carminati, Corvetta 3, Dolfo 8, Sartoretti, Massari 2, Tosi (L), Piano 8, Van Walle 23, Rossi 5, Marchiani 1. DNP Lensi. Coach. Radici.

Trentino did not take advantage of the point lost by Macerata to close the gap on the leaders. Many ups and downs against Città di Castello, which was led by an excellent Corvetta and the effective Van Walle (5 blocks, one ace and 23 total points). This is Città di Castello’s first point away from home. MVP Lanza.

Giacomo “Jack” Sintini (Diatec Trentino): “These are still two points won, not one lost because Città di Castello proved they could make it hard for us for long spells with quality play. We did a good job of not giving up in the most difficult moment of the game. I am convinced that winning while facing difficulties like today or last Saturday against Latina can be useful to us”.

Andrea Radici (coach Altotevere Città di Castello): “Taking a point in Trento is definitely positive. The initial run of serve from Trento greatly influenced the tie-break. We trailed by four and never found the resources to come-back, something we had managed in the two sets won. But I liked the attitude of the boys going into this game, and Van Walle was outstanding, he’s having one big performance after another despite the fact that he had to adapt to the new category like all the guys”.

BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO – CMC RAVENNA 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20)

BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO: Rauwerdink 13, Antonov 19, Marchisio (L), Gonzalez 6, De Pandis (L), Casadei, Kohut 7, Alletti 1, De Togni 2, Coscione, Rouzier 22, Maruotti 1. Coach. Piazza.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 3, Kauliakamoa Jr 1, Cricca 3, Toniutti 2, Tillie 18, Jeliazkov 2, Klapwijk 8, Cester 5, Bari (L), Cebulj 24. DNP Koumentakis, Scarpi, Patriarca. Coach. Bonitta.

Gonzalez was named MVP as Cuneo gathered a much-needed and reassuring victory over Ravenna.

Javier Gonzalez (Bre Lannutti Cuneo): “Today’s win is a big relief. We were influenced by the defeats conceded in recent games, we lost confidence. But we got on court determined to get a result, both for the club and the fans”.

Kevin Tillie (CMC Ravenna): “This was a difficult game for us. We made too many mistakes and we did not manage to play as a team on a consistent basis. We made too many consecutive errors and that led to defeat”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 1-3 (35-37, 25-22, 16-25, 16-25)

ANDREOLI LATINA: De Rocco 1, Candellaro, Rossini (L), Gitto 9, Sottile, Skrimov 15, Verhees 6, Paris, Noda Blanco 3, Starovic 19, Fragkos 7, Torres 1. DNP Tailli. Coach. Santilli.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Le Roux 4, Papi 7, Fei 7, Kaliberda 21, Simon 15, Zlatanov 5, Tencati 3, Vettori 12, De Cecco 3. DNP Partenio, Smerilli, Husaj. Coach. Monti.

Piacenza takes maximum points out of its encounter against Latina. The first two sets were tight but then the guests slowed down and conceded run of points that were decisive. MVP Simon

Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “We knew it could be a tough and long game for us, Latina surely don’t deserve to be where they are in the table and with the addition of Starovic, they are stronger. We found it very hard in the first two sets but then we did  a great job to take all three points”.

Carmelo Gitto (Andreoli Latina): “All those games do not let us time to train, but we have to see the positive side, the fact we managed to give it a good fight for two sets against a great team like Piacenza. We’re on the up”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 29-27) – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 6, Petric 11, Giovi (L), Cupkovic 3, Barone 4, Della Lunga 6, Mitic 6, Vujevic, Atanasijevic 21, Semenzato. DNP Paolucci, Della Corte, Fanuli. Coach. Kovac.

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Trinidad De Haro 1, Plot, Steuerwald 10, Randazzo 7, Farina (L), Forni 5, Villena 2, Crer 11, Gavotto 7, Ogurcak 11, Presta. DNP Sardanelli. Coach. Blengini.

A lively Perugia team defeated Vibo in straight sets. This was a hard-fought and spectacular game. Once again Atanasijevic was named MVP as he tallied 21 points and registered 66% in attack.

Rocco Barone (Sir Safety Perugia): “3-0 and three important points, we played well and got a win that will do us good. Vibo plays good volleyball and they proved it tonight. As far as we’re concerned, we work as always to keep improving. Next Sunday, we’ll face a tough game in Ravenna, but we want to continue this way”.

Alessandro Farina (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We believed in it until the end. The first and third set were tight. We had our chances but we’re disappointed we did not make the most of them. In the second set we struggled to receive Mitic’s serve and they escaped. I have to say their spikers were very good, they managed to turn difficult plays into points”.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20)

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Piscopo 9, Mazzone 4, Izzo, Del Vecchio, Cesarini (L), Sabbi 17, Zanuto 12, Porcelli, Casoli 7, Saitta 5. DNP De Marchi, Fornés Jul. Coach. Cichello.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 8, Blasi, Pesaresi (L), Ter Horst 14, Gasparini 15, White 4, Boninfante, Anzani 6, Gonzalez. DNP Coali, Gabriele, Centomo, Bellei. Coach. Giani.

Molfetta learned the lesson and was back on the winning side  in its gym. They had a convincing performance against a competitive team like Verona. The confused and careless team of the last games turned into an extremely keen squad, ready to fight to give the fans a night to remember. MVP: Marco Cosimo Piscopo

Juan Manuel Cichello (coach Exprivia Molfetta): “This was a difficult week for us, I am extremely happy with this win, the boys work their socks off every day. We have to keep playing and working like that. They played with free minds, and you could see that, especially in the second set in which we found it very hard before coming back and winning it. We’ll now focus on Piacenza, another great team”.

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “We played too soft, we knew we’d face an angry team after two consecutive losses. The block-dig area did not work out, we lacked consistency on the serve and we did not play on our strengths”.
