The President of Emma Villas Siena, Giammarco Bisogno, intervenes regarding the situation of PalaEstra: “With reference to the situation of PalaEstra and the statements made to the newspaper La Nazione di Siena, I would like to add and deepen some aspects. First of all, our first wish is to find a shared solution for this season. I am aware of the will of the new administration to proceed immediately with the work of bringing the building up to standard in order to protect the safety of spectators and those who work within the structure. On our part, there is the utmost solidarity in this regard. However, at this point I have to express my great perplexities and uncertainties about the possibility of being able to proceed to a Serie A championship for this season. If we do not have the possibility of having a structure in Siena adequate to the regulations required to be able to play the championship volleyball in this category (minimum number of seats, a certain ceiling height…) unfortunately I don’t see any other valid solutions. The structures indicated as alternatives because according to the law are however hardly practicable for a series of reasons that we have already evaluated”.

President Giammarco Bisogno continues: “The problem regarding the safety of the facility poses a dilemma not only for the performance of the official matches, with the associated number of spectators, but also for all the normal performance of the daily activities of the athletes and staff on the field during preparation and training. It is absolutely not my intention to move from the city of Siena where I have cultivated and built this movement over the years, where I have strategically invested with the company starting from the tour operator store in Piazza Matteotti and I have involved a network of local and national sponsors who had a specific interest in this territorial fabric. I add to these instances that not least of the fans who have always supported us. I have a duty to protect this movement and those who have taken part in it as far as possible. The short times regarding the communication of the structural intervention also penalize any preventive reaction: thinking about changing everything just ten days after the start of the preparations, and therefore working in a short time on a new arrangement and new contracts, is a complex and almost impossible”.

“I reiterate the total priority of safety – concludes President Bisogno – but as a club we must be concrete also in view of the inevitable logistical difficulties in moving from one day to the next a group of thirty or more people and as many collaborators involved in the project.
